My heart breaks for the best Uncle ever. He was such a good noble man who would do anything for anyone at anytime. Such a great example of what it means to be a True Texan, a fine American and the last of the real cowboys. His stories were legendary.

My Dad, CT Martin, told me that the only birthday he had when he was young was his ninth birthday. He lived in Lookeba Oklahoma and it was the middle of the great depression and the dust bowl era. Everyone at that time had little money, but lots of friends and family. It's not money that gets you through life, it's your friends and family.

My great-grandfather, Bill Martin, nicknamed his kids and some of his grandkids. My dad, CT, was nicknamed "Cotton" when he was about two years old. Dad used to sneak out and walked through the cotton fields for a half mile to great-grandad's house. My great-grandma, Katie, would give dad a home made biscuit with grape jelly and send him home. They watched as dad made his way home. My dad blended in to the cotton boles because he had white hair. That's how he got the nickname, Cotton.
On dad's first day of school, the teacher was taking roll and called out "CT Martin". Dad looked around to see who this CT was, thinking he might be related. He was always called Cotton ever since his grand-dad Bill had nicknamed him. The teacher finally asked him if he was CT. Dad said no that his name was Cotton and all the kids laughed.

CT was the soft spoken uncle that loved Lila, his kids and grands so much. After my Father passed, CT was faithful in stopping by to chat a bit and say hello to LuRetta, my mom and Lila’s sister. I love hearing his stories and his humor. Thinking of the family in this loss. He and Lila sure raised a great family, my cousins!

Words cannot express how much I am going to miss you. Especially the times you would call for me to come over and press on for your tv. Lol. Then stay and talk. Miss our trips to the store and eating at Denny’s. We can all say that we were blessed to have known and loved a loving, caring, gentle, selfless, extraordinary man. My life will never be the same without you in it. Until we meet again. I love you papa!!

It’s hard to put into words how much you are missed, Grandpa. This world was blessed to have you in it for 95 years, but it still doesn’t seem like enough. I am grateful for all the wonderful memories and for the love you showed all of us. I am comforted by the fact that you are in heaven with Granny and knowing that we will see you again someday. You will always be in our hearts ❤️

To the family of Mr. Martin,
What an amazing man! I have known Mr. Martin for 30 years and have been a neighbor for many of those.
I was always intrigued by his Firmness. Many thought he had a mean streak, but that was furthest from the truth. He was a firm man and was always out on the back of the property working. I have to admit I would be alarmed when I came home to find him on top of a barn cutting tree limbs. But knew better than to tell him he shouldn’t be up there. So I would just watch from a window in awe of him.
I was told no-one could go on his property, yet he would allow me to go out there to retrieve golf balls my kids would hit that way as long as I wore boots due to snakes (under his conditions of course).
My thoughts and prayers as you go through this part of your journey. But, remember the blessing of having the opportunity to have him around for so many wonderful years.
I will miss seeing him driving down the road through New Deal.

From Dad's Loved niece Cindy Young
This was in memories today. My uncle left this world on the 29th. I know his wife, daughter, parents, grandparents and a host of others are happy to be reunited with him.
I'm sad but don't feel robbed. Uncle CT had a long, rewarding life.
I pray there are horses in heaven.
History lesson for today was courtesy of my uncle. Family met here to watch a slideshow created to celebrate his 90th birthday.
Amazing that he could name people, places and dates of a couple hundred pictures.
A veteran of WWII, he explained pictures taken during the occupation of Japan. Remembered his buddies names and where they were from.
Funny that he could name every horse in every picture! My Uncle CT was, is and always will be a cowboy.
He is the reason ~

To Julia, Tammy, David, and family,
I extend to you my deepest sympathy, thoughts, and prayers. I am deeply sorry and sad to learn of your father's passing. We didn't speak much to each other in person, but we did keep a check on each other via checking to see if our lights were on inside our homes which meant we were both okay!!
Whenever I drove past your dad's house and your dad was outside, I would wave at him. Last summer, he came over and mowed my front yard "just because". Mr. Martin said he needed something to do! I thought that was so kind.
Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers in the coming days. I will miss your dad as a good neighbor. I appreciated him looking out for me and I did the same for him.
I pray our Heavenly Father will cover you with His peace and His love.
Most sincerely,
Diana Mobley
