Obituary of Clayton Thomas "C.T." Martin

Clayton Thomas "C.T." Martin, 95, of New Deal, TX, will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2023, in the New Deal First Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Winn officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Abernathy Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Martin went to be with our Lord, Sunday, January 29, 2023 at his daughter's home in Lubbock, TX. C.T. was born on February 19, 1927 near Anadarko, OK to Paul Meredith and Lillie Mae (Richey) Martin. He graduated Hobart High School in Hobart, OK . He joined the US Army at the age of 18 and proudly served his country during WWII in the Japanese Theatre. August 15, 1948 he married his one and only love Lila Fay Edens and they raised four loving children. C.T. owned his company erecting metal buildings across the country. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lila Fay Martin of 58 years in 2005, daughter Cathy Elaine Martin in 2017 , grandson Buddy Clayton Shackelford in 2011 and great grand daughter Lillian Faye Staggs in 2008, brother Clarence (Bub) Johnson, and sisters Joyce Martin and Lone Dietrich. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Julia Scott and husband Gary of Lubbock, TX and Tammy Jones and husband Dave of New Deal, TX, and son, David Martin and wife Jan of Lindsay, TX, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, a brother, Ron Holford of Boise, ID and sister, Shirley Talley of Tecumsah, OK. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 21st Street, Lubbock, TX 79410.
