Graveside services for Tommy Lane Shirley, 68, of Lubbock, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 16, 2021, in the Abernathy Cemetery. Public viewing will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, March 15, 2021, at Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Tommy Shirley died at his home surrounded by his family, March 12, 2021. Tommy Lane Shirley was born October 13, 1952 in Monahans, TX to Franklin Homer "F.H." and Corky Fay (Lane) Shirley. He was raised in Dell City, TX and moved to Lubbock where he met Karen Rasco, and they were married March 15, 1985 in Lubbock. Tommy was a mechanic for 14 years, and then worked at DC Wrecking where he sold auto parts and bought salvage for 29 years, retiring in 2013. He was loved by so many people and will be missed by all. He loved doing leatherwork , carpentry, hunting and fishing. His big sense of humor often led to his infamous trash talk. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dickie Ray Shirley in 1993 and a daughter, Brandy Cockrell in 1995. He is survived by his wife, Karen Rasco Shirley of Lubbock, TX, 3 daughters, Shawnna Shirley and Bridget Shirley both of Lubbock and Robin Shirley Lusk and husband David of Shallowater, TX, 12 grandchildren, 4 great granddaughters, a sister, Marquita Shirley Terry of Kerrville, TX, mother-in-law, Rita Rasco of Lubbock, a nephew, T.J. Terry of Rock Springs, TX and a niece, Katherin Terry of Odessa, TX. The Shirley family suggests memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101 or to Ribbons of Love, P. O. Box 204, Shallowater, TX 79336.
