Obituary of David Harold Thomas

Graveside services for David Harold Thomas, 63, of Lubbock, TX and formerly of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 25, 2020, in the Abernathy Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. David died at his home in Lubbock, Monday, August 17, 2020. He was born February 26, 1957 in Lubbock to Harold Wright and Billie Ann (Watts) Thomas. He married Dianne Sparkman, September 18, 1991 and she preceded him in death May 16, 1992. David graduated Abernathy High School in 1975 and lived in Abernathy until 2019 when he moved to Lubbock. From an early age he watched his Grandfather and father working on the farm and by age 3 he began following in their footsteps. David's lifelong dream was to farm. He loved it and breathed it! David also loved his trips to Las Vegas, NV. David was preceded in death by his wife, and parents, Billie Ann on September 1, 2009 and the following month, his Dad, Harold, October 19, 2009. Survivors include his sister, Debra Thomas, cousins, Jeff and Marti Watts and their 2 children, Mackamy Pooley and Peighton Watts, and cousin, Jill Watts, uncle, Robert Thomas and wife Dee and numerous other cousins. The family suggests memorials be sent to a favorite charity.
