Services for Ida Beth Evans, 92, of Abernathy, TX will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 23, 2015, in the Abernathy Church of Christ with Randall Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather at Abell Funeral Home Friday, May 22nd from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm to receive friends. Mrs. Evans died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, in Lubbock, TX. She was born March 29, 1923 in Girard, TX to Aggie A. and Lola (Fuston) Stephens. She graduated Abernathy High School in 1940. She married M. D. "Coot" Evans June 22, 1940 in Abernathy. She was a Girl and Boy Scout leader, President of the PTA and was a member of the Abernathy Church of Christ since 1936. She was employed at Hi Plains Hospital in Hale Center for a couple of years, as a nurses aide. She was a member of the Abernathy Riding Club for 52 years, loved painting and doing calligraphy She was preceded in death by 3 children, Charles Evans in 2003, Peggy Escue in 2008 and Randy Joe Evans in 2009. Survivors include her husband, M. D. "Coot" Evans of Abernathy, daughter-in-law, Barbara Evans of Shallowater, TX, one sister, Othella Chandler of Dalhart, TX, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Texas Boys Ranch, Box 5665, Lubbock TX 79408 or the Children's Home of Lubbock, Box 2824, Lubbock, TX 79408.
