Obituary of Alda Gage

Alda Louise Gage (Whitacre), 99, longtime Hale Center resident, went to be with the Lord the 26th of December, 2013.
Alda was born in Lingleville, TX, February 18, 1914, the daughter of Mr. William Jess Whitacre and Mrs. Metta La Rue (Robinson) Whitacre. Alda graduated from Hale Center High School and was married to Belton Leroy Gage in November of 1931.
Alda was a Doctors Nurse for 38 years supporting Dr. Ray Freeman at Hi-Plains Hospital in Hale Center. She retired in March of 1990, recognized by her peers as an esteemed colleague and her community as a compassionate health care professional. Her passion and love was her work and most importantly her family and friends.
She was survived by her son William Van Gage and her grandsons James Terry Gage and James Bryan Gage, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in the Church of Christ, 4th & Ave G, Hale Center, TX. Interment will follow in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. Viewing will be held Monday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and the family will gather at Abell Funeral Home to receive friends, Tuesday morning, December 31, 2013, from 10:00 am until 11:30 am.
