Services for Benney Turner, 70, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:30 am, Monday, April 11, 2011, in the Flomot Cemetery, Flomot, TX with Rev. Joel Perez officiating and Riley Turner assisting. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family received friends at Abell Funeral Home, 411 16th Street, Abernathy on Sunday afternoon from 4pm until 5:30 pm. He died Friday, April 8, 2011, in the home of his daughter in Abernathy, TX. Benney Turner was born March 25, 1941 in Flomot, TX to Malcolm and Lola (Price) Turner. He moved to Abernathy in 1974 from Amarillo. He raised miniature horses and miniature donkeys and bought, rebuilt and sold stock trailers. He was a plumber by trade, member of the plumbers union, Local 629 since 1960. He was Project Superintendent for the commercial plumbing with Anthony Mechanical during the construction of the Lubbock County Detention Center. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Turner in June of 2010. Together, Benney and Elfa (Womack) Turner raised 3 children that survive him, Jeania Grimsley and her husband Bobby of Abernathy, TX, Cindy Morgan and her husband Dave of Batavia, IL, and Clifton Cory Turner and his wife Melissa of Buckeye, AZ, 3 grandchildren, Jody Grimsley and his wife Jenni of Katy, TX, and Jordan and Dylan Morgan both of Batavia, IL. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Donnie Turner of Flomot, TX and Johnny Turner of Lubbock, TX and Wyvonne Mount of Abernathy.
