Obituary of Ruby Thompson

Memorial services for Ruby Thompson, 90, of Lubbock, TX and formerly of Abernathy, were held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 5, 2004, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowrie officiating. Burial was in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Thompson went to meet her Lord Friday, January 2, 2004, in Lubbock, TX. She was born November 14, 1913 in Davis, OK, to William Monroe Mauldin and Permelia (Millie) Moorhead. The family moved to Texas when Mrs. Thompson was an infant and moving to Eagle Springs, west of Abernathy, when she was a teenager. She was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church. She married Joe Thompson December 22, 1934, in Abernathy, he preceded her in death February 11, 2002. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers. She is survived by 3 children, Pat Chapman of Wolfforth, TX, Harold Thompson and his wife Cheryl of Lubbock, TX and Jane Phillips and her husband Dick of Lubbock, TX. 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 6 brothers and a sister.
