Obituary of Darla Bennett

Services for Darla Bennett, 55, of Kress, TX and of Belton, TX, were held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 20, 2002, in the First Baptist Church, Kress, TX, with Rev. Jay Simpson, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Kress Cemetery under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, TX. Ms. Bennett died on Monday, November 18, 2002, at her home in Kress. She was born on February 9, 1947 in Petersburg, TX, to J. W. and Bernice Martin. She was a graduate of Kress High School in 1965. She was employed as the Kress Independent School District Superintendents Secretary from 1976 until 1996. She had served as the Municipal Court Judge for Kress from 1986 until 1996. She was a member of the Texas Municipal Court Judges Association and the First Baptist Church in Belton, TX. Survivors; 2 sons, Scotty Bennett and his wife Lori of Kress, TX, and Craig Bennett and his wife Cristy of Kress, TX. 1 daughter, Shelly Tye and her husband Darren of Kress, TX.
