Services for Vinita Lee Webb Standefer, 90, were held 10:00 am Monday, August 23, 2010, in the First Baptist Church, Hale Center, TX with Rev. Carrol Green officiating. Burial followed in the Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. The Standefer family received friends at Abell Funeral Home, Sunday, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Mrs. Standefer died on August died on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, in the home where she resided with her eldest daughter, Sharon Standefer Daniel Beltz, and son in law, Jeff Beltz in Culleoka, TN. She was born on October 23, 1919, the daughter of Harvey Webb and "Molly" Moore Webb, and resided in Flomot, Texas where she was a teacher. Vinita Lee married Howard "H.L." Standefer on September 20, 1942 in Matador, TX. They lived in Plainview where she was a bookkeeper for 37 years at Rockwell Bros. Lumber Company. They retired in Hale Center, Texas, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. An avid sports fan, Vinita Lee loved her Houston Astros, and enjoyed her trips to San Diego every summer to see her nephew, Johnny Webb so that she could see the Astros and Padres play. She loved crossword puzzles and volunteered her time crocheting lap blankets for residents of local nursing homes. She is survived by a brother, Joe Webb, who lives in Tucson, AZ.; 3 daughters, Sharon Beltz of Culleoka, TN, Linda Standefer Bowman, Georgetown, TX and Donna Standefer Sauve, Leander, TX, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
