Obituary of Barbara Benn

Services for Barbara Benn, 86, of Tyler, TX and formerly of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 14, 2003, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Bradley Gill officiating. Burial followed services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mrs. Benn died of a sudden illness Friday, October 10, 2003 at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, TX. She was born on February 28, 1917, in Graham, TX. She married Clyde Allen Benn on May 7, 1938 in Amarillo, TX. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Abernathy and her Sunday School Class at Rosewood Estate, where she had resided since January 1999. She is survived by one daughter, Suzan Gill, and her husband, Dr. Donald A. Gill of Tyler, TX, two grandsons, Chris Allen Gill and his wife, Tina and children, Ashlee and Logan of Tyler, TX, and Rev. Bradley L. Gill and his wife, Marcie, and their children Rylie and Maxwell of Palm Bay, FL. One brother, Robert Arnold and his wife, Ouida, a sister, Jackie Kunkle and her husband Earl, her brother-in-law, Owen Benn and a sister-in-law, Martha Benn, and numerous nephews and nieces also survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Allen Benn on June 5, 1993, her infant son, Fredrick Allen Benn in 1938, parents, Robert F. and Barbara Arnold, and sisters, Mamie Allen and Claire Roberts. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, October 13, 2003.
