NANCY DAVENE SAGESER
Funeral services for Nancy Davene Sageser, 78, of Cotton Center were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in the Cotton Center First Baptist Church with Pastor J.D. Templeton, officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews. Interment followed at Center Plains Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Hale Center, TX.
Mrs. Sageser passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011 in Lubbock, TX.
She was born January 8, 1933 in Plainview. TX, to Lewis and Alice Brown Thompson. She was a lifelong resident of Cotton Center. She was a member of the Cotton Center High School girls basketball team that won state in 1950. She graduated from Cotton Center High School in 1950 as the class valedictorian. After attending Texas Tech, she married Jack Sageser at the Cotton Center First Baptist Church on August 29, 1953. They had recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. She was a devoted homemaker and caregiver to her family, church, and community. She had a great love for her family and her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was an active, lifetime member of Cotton Center First Baptist Church, where she taught and helped with Sunday School and children's auxiliaries for many years. She was a member of her local bridge club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Jaclyn Marie McGavock.
Surviviors include her husband, Jack of Cotton Center, TX, 2 daughters: Sharla McGavock of Abilene, TX and Nancy Wood and husband Michael of Lubbock, TX, 1 son: Chris Sageser and wife Raynie of Cotton Center, TX, 1 sister: Sharon Thomas of Lubbock and 6 grandchildren: Sarah Heath McCullough and husband Stephen of Fort Worth, TX, Cristalyn Sageser Parten and husband Chance of Abilene, TX, Jay Ray Sageser of Cotton Center, Katie McGavock of Plano, TX, and Cayley and Mayci Wood of Lubbock.
Memorials may be sent to the Center Plains Cemetery Association or the Cotton Center First Baptist Church.
