Rosary for Marcos Martinez Rodriguez, 68, of Brownfield and formerly of Abernathy, TX, were recited at 7:00 pm Monday, January 9, 2012 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Abernathy. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lubbock, TX. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Rodriguez died Friday, January 6, 2012 in Lubbock, TX. He was born January 6, 1944 in Harlingen, TX, and married Irene Cantu on November 13, 1982 in Lubbock. They had been longtime Abernathy residents and he was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lubbock, TX. He was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Rodriguez in 1981 and 5 brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife Irene Rodriguez of Brownfield, TX, 6 sons, Marcos, Jr of Littlefield, TX, Richard and Robert both of Abernathy, TX, Rey of Lubbock, TX, Michael of O'Donnell, TX and Randy James of Beeville, TX, 6 daughters, Rosa Linda Martinez of New Braunfels, TX, San Juanita Campos and Christina Vasquez both of Corpus Christi, TX, Rose Marie Cano of Killeen, TX, Rita Marie Martinez of Abernathy, TX and Ruby Anne Mumpuku of Dallas, TX, 2 brothers, Johnny Flores of Lubbock, TX and Inez Flores of Levelland, TX , 3 sisters, Marie Dockery of Lubbock, TX, Juanita Flores of Oklahoma City, OK and Aurelia Martinez of Clinton, OK 32 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
