The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, January 9, 2012, in the same church with Rev. Jacob Puthuparambil officiating. Burial followed services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Ponciano died in Lubbock on Friday, January 6, 2012. She was born on June 22, 1947 in Cuero, TX to Guadalupe and Mary (Perez) Guillen. She married Pablo Ponciano on July 21, 1962 in Lubbock, TX. They resided in Abernathy and she worked as a teachers aide for the Abernathy ISD. They moved to Lubbock in 1972 where she worked as a claims representative for Social Security. She then became the administrator for Innocence Project of Texas. She was a former member of Our Lady of Grace until moving her membership to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lubbock, TX. "This too shall pass", would describe mom best. Faith was the foundation our family was built on and what we continue to reflect on even in the most diffcult of times. She taught us life is short and to appreciate all of the little things because down the road they would become the big things. With all who crossed her path, mom always made sure they never walked away a stranger. She has left behind a legacy not only of family and friends but a lifetime of love, memories, and many bits of widsom and that will forever carry on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living my mommy you'll be." She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Ponciano, Jr. She is survived by her husband Pablo Ponciano of Lubbock, TX, 4 daughters, Suzanne P. Valenzuela of Victoria, TX, Michele Ponciano-Doggett of Lubbock, TX, Gina Ponciano-Dunlop of Clarksville, TN and Cristal Ponciano of Lubbock, TX, 12 grandchildren 3 great grandchildren, a brother, Andrew Guillen of Lubbock, TX and a sister, Julie Saucedo of Abernathy, TX. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Ste 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. Abell Funeral Home
