Obituary of W. Parker

Services for W. M. "Woody" Parker, 85, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 7, 2002, in the Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Perez, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr. Parker died Tuesday, November 5, 2002, in Slaton, TX. He was born in Honey Grove, TX on June 17, 1917. He graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1934. He served in the United States Army as Master Sergeant during WWII. He was a longtime Abernathy resident. He was an insurance agent for American National Life Insurance for 20 years, and worked as a saleman at Hoppy's Shop, a menswear store in Abernathy. He was a longtime member of the Abernathy Lions Club and was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. He is survived by a sister; Ruby Nell Pittman and her husband Clyde of Abernathy, TX. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be sent to Northside Baptist Church, 400 North Drive, Abernathy, TX 79311, or to a favorite charity. Abell Funeral Home
