Services for Lavail Bishop Lacy, 97, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 22, 2008, in the Abernathy Church of Christ with Conde Billingsley officiating. Burial followed in Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Lacy passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008. She was born February 20, 1911 to T. U. and Bertha Huff Hunt in Rule, TX. In 1925 she traveled with her parents and younger brother, Marvin , to Acuff, TX, where they established a farm. On December 25, 1928 she married F. C. Bishop of Idalou, TX. They moved to County Line, Tx in 1947. Mr. Bishop preceded her in death May 15, 1960 and she moved to Abernathy from County Line in 1961. They had a daughter, LaNell Stone and husband Delton of Abernathy, TX, 2 grandchildren, Gary Stone and wife Stacy and Sherri Henley all of Abernathy, TX, 6 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren and 2 neices, Doris Stephens of Abernathy and Mary Hunt of Flint, TX. Lavail and R. H. "Reed" Lacy were married on June 15, 1963 in Abernathy, TX. He preceded her in death March 24, 1991. Her second family consisted of Weldon Lacy and wife Dean of Premont, TX, and Carl Lacy and wife Martha of Conroe, TX and their families. The family suggests memorials be sent to NursCare Hospice, 1312 Texas Ave., Lubbock, TX 79401 or to the Abernathy Church of Christ, 916 Ave. E, Abernathy, TX 79311. Abell Funeral Home
