Obituary of Imogene Jones

Imogene Lula Jones went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 7, 2005, after a lengthy illness at the age of 75 years. She was born September 13, 1929 to the late C. S. and Delphia Wales. Services were held Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church in New Deal, TX, with Dr. Terry Jones and Rev. Joel Perez officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Burial followed in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Imogene married Edward L. Jones, January 14, 1950, in Caldwell, TX. She was a member of First Baptist Church, New Deal. She had a great love for children of all ages. From the time she was a teenager she taught children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and she owned and operated a day care in her home until her health began to decline. Imogene was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Stanley Bryan Jones. She is survived by her husband Edward of Abernathy, TX, a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Glen McCullough of New Deal, TX, a son, David Jones of Columbus, OH, 2 grandsons, Derrick McCullough and wife Kerri and Travis McCullough, 2 sisters, Marie Upton of Fischer, TX and Maxine Martin of Lubbock, TX, and one brother, Charles S. Wales of Dimmitt, TX. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 237, New Deal, TX 79350. Abell Funeral Home
