Graveside services for Annie Florence Davis Jackson, 97, of Abernathy, TX, were held Friday, April 18, 2003, at 11:00 am, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Rev. Ron Kelley, pastor of the Abernathy First United Methodist Church, officiating. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Jackson died in Lubbock, TX Wednesday, April 16, 2003. She was born on February 22, 1906 in Cookeville, TN to Quinby O. and Lou Ann Nicholas Davis, the fourth of six children. She attended school at Harmony School, near Weatherford, TX. She was baptised into the United Methodist Church at New Hope near McEwen, TN in 1924. She moved to Lubbock, TX in November 1924 with her family, and to Monroe, TX (now New Deal, TX) in January of 1925. She did practical nursing for a number of years, and later managed the school cafeteria at New Deal and Lorenzo, TX. She married Burrell M. Jackson in Lubbock, TX September 9, 1939. They farmed in the Abernathy and Petersburg areas until the death of her husband in 1968. She cared for her Father and Mother until their deaths in 1973 and 1975 respectively. She lived in Abernathy from that time until it bacame necessary for her to move into a nursing home in 1993. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Clarence J. Davis, her twin brother, William Lawrence Davis, and Horace Davis and 2 sisters, Addie Magnolia Davis (who died in early childhood) and Mattie Lou Cochran. She is survived by her double cousin, Henry Davis of Amarillo, TX and several first cousins, three nieces and 2 sisters-in-law, Alberta Davis of Abernathy, TX and Josephine Davis of Amarillo, TX. The family suggests memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 704 Ave. D, Abernathy, Tx. Abell Funeral Home
