Obituary of D. Hooper

D. J. Hooper Services for D.J. Hooper, 73, of Hale Center, were held at 2:30 pm Saturday, November 17, 2001, in the Hale Center Church of Christ with Matt Swanson and Silas Short, both Church of Christ ministers, officiating. Burial followed in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, Tx. Mr. Hooper died at his residence on Thursday, November 15, 2001. He was born on January 19, 1928 in Hale Center, Tx., where he was a lifelong resident. He married Jerrie McDaniel on July 20, 1949 in Hale Center. He farmed in Hale Center from 1949 until 1976 and later became the manager of the Mayfield Co-op Gin from 1976 until he retired in 1990. He is survived by; Wife, Jerrie Hooper of Hale Center, Tx., 1 Son, Tommy & Margie Hooper of Rockwall, Tx., 2 Daughters, Donna & Keith Pettit of Abernathy, Tx., and DeeAnn Boyd of Hale Center, Tx. 1 Foster Brother, Coley Moseley of Friona, Tx., 7 Grnadchildren, David & Natalie Pettit of Austin, Tx., Alissa Pettit of San Marcos, Tx., Scott & Tood Hooper both of Lubbock, Tx., Kim Hooper of Rockwall, Tx., and Matt & Elizabeth Boyd of Hale Center, Tx.
