Services for Johnny Hemphill, 51, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 29, 2005, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowrie officiating.
Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX.
Mr. Hemphill died at his home, Thursday, October 27, 2005.
He was born March 5, 1954 in Lubbock, TX, to Earnest Hemphill and Dorothy (Peggram) Hemphill. He married Kathrina Allen, July 7, 1973, in Abernathy. He was a lifelong Abernathy resident and was a member of the First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for 10 years in the children's department. He has a very special aunt; Annie Lebow, who helped with his care.
He is survived by his wife Kathrina Hemphill of Abernathy, TX, a son, Joshua Hemphill and his wife Leisha of Amarillo, TX, and a daughter, Kami Hemphill of Arlington, TX, parents, Earnest and Dorothy Hemphill of Abernathy, TX, 2 sisters, Martha Peck of Hickory, KY and Barbara Waters of Abernathy, TX, his in-laws; Dorman and Nancy Allen of Abernathy, 2 sisters-in-laws, Cindy Davidson and her husband Rick of Whiteface, TX and DiAnn Stone and her husband Don of Abernathy, TX. He is also survived by dear friends Jackie and Jan McGaugh and family of Abernathy, TX, and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the Lubbock Parkinsons Assoc., Abernathy Ex-Students Assoc, or to the First Baptist Church, Building Fund.
