Services for Imagene Cotton Amerson, 88, of Abernathy, TX were held at 10:00 AM Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, in the Abernathy First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Campbell and Rev. Jerry Don Cheshire officiating. Entombment followed in Resthaven Mausoleum in Lubbock under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Amerson died Monday, February 23, 2004, in Lubbock, TX. She was born December 28, 1915 in Becton, TX to Walt and Lucy Cotton. She moved to Abernathy in 1921 and graduated from Abernathy High School in 1933. She attended and graduated Texas Tech University in 1937 and began her teaching career. She taught in Lorenzo, Hereford, Lubbock and Abernathy schools, retiring in 1981. She married Cecil M. Amerson December 20, 1941, in Abernathy, TX. He preceded her in death April 6, 1993. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was active in Sunday School teaching and Vacation Bible School. The last seven years she spent at the Lutheran Home of West Texas where she remained active in chapel and senior citizen events. She is survived by; One son, Gerald Amerson and his wife Barbara of Abernathy, TX. Two grandchildren, Corporal K. C. Amerson of Scofield Air Force Base in Scofield, HI and Elizabeth Amerson of Abernathy, TX. Two sisters, Jeanette Hays of Lubbock, TX and Josephine McBride of Odessa, TX. The family suggests memorials be sent to a favorite charity. Abell Funeral Home
