Services for Mary Lee Goodnight, 97, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 3, 2010, in the First Baptist Church with Larry Lutrick, grandson officiating. Rev. Mike O'Donnell and Rev. Brian Brownlow will assist. Graveside services were held at 10:00 am Saturday, February 6, 2010 in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Goodnight died Monday, February 1, 2010. She was born December 2, 1912 in Van Alstyne, TX. she was raised in Gunter, TX where she graduated from High School She married Ray E. Savage on February 4, 1932 in the Dallas, TX area. He preceded her in death, May 23, 1971. She later married Albert Wade Goodnight in Dallas, TX, April 13, 1988, and he preceded her in death in 1994. She was employed by Republic National Bank for 30 years. She was a member of Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas until moving to Abernathy in 1997 when she transferred her membership to the Abernathy First Baptist Church. Mary Lee was an eloquent and gracious lady who loved hosting luncheons and parties. She loved her yards and was quite the gardener. She also spent much time crocheting and sewing clothes for her daughter and granddaughter as well as for herself. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lutrick and her husband Lewis of Abernathy, TX, 3 grandchildren, Larry Lutrick and his wife Bambi, Scott Lutrick and his wife Kimberly all of Abernathy, TX and Carrie Lee Franklin and her husband Gery of Lubbock, TX, 8 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. The family suggests that memorials be sent to the Abernathy First Baptist Church. Abell Funeral Home
