Barbara Maud Harral Goldston, a resident of Albuquerque, N.M., died March 24, 2004 in Phoenix, AZ. The family received friends at the Abernathy City Hall, Saturday, April 10, 2004, from 10:00 am until service time. Rev. Elizabeth Sisco officiated. Cremation services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Barbara, Maudie, Harral was born January 26, 1937 in Lubbock, TX, the daughter of Leonard Paul Harral and Olivette Stuart Harral of Abernathy, TX. She was a graduate of Abernathy High School, earned a B. S. degree from T. C. U. where she was a majorette in the Horned Frog Band, and a member of Delta Delta Delta. She earned a Master Degree in Library Science at the University of Hawaii. Barbara taught elementary school in Fort Worth and Lubbock, was a medical librarian in Yankston, SD and was an editor at ABC-CLIO, and academic publishing firm in Santa Barbara, CA. After moving to Albuquerque she was a partner in Broom Harral, Inc. a Meetings Planning firm. Most recently she was engaged in her family's farming interests with Freddie and Mary Shaw of County Line, TX. The land they farmed has been in the Harral family since the 1890's. Her parents and a sister, Nancy Harral Herring, preceded Barbara Maud in death. She is survived by a son, Stuart Toman of Santa Fe, NM, three grandchildren, Travis, Serena and Rose Toman, one great-grandson, Adrian of California, niece Mollie Molliver, nephew Kenneth Herring, her Stuart aunts, uncles and cousins and her farm family, the Shaws. Her grandchildren have fond memories of holidays and vacations with their Grammy. The many friends from Abernathy, T. C. U. and the various places she has lived and worked will remember her as a loving and generous friend and a travel companion who was ever ready for the next great adventure. Abell Funeral Home
