Obituary of J. Galloway

Services for J. C. Galloway, 91, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 29, 2008, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Perez and Rev. Bill Summers (Brother-in-law of Mr. Galloway), officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Galloway died Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at his home in Abernathy. He was born May 16, 1916 in Rush Springs, OK, to Eaton Galloway and Mallisa (Bell) Galloway. He marrie Ruth Marie Meek on September 3, 1938 in Lewisville, TX. They moved to Abernathy in 1943 from Dallas, TX. He was employed by 66 Butane and Fertilizer until retiring in 1986, and he had served on the Abernathy Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Monroe Galloway and Burl Lansdon and a grandson, Travis Galloway. He is survived by his wife, Marie Galloway of Abernathy, TX, a son, Billy Ray Galloway of Garden Valley, TX, a daughter, Pat Thompson of Lubbock, TX, 3 sisters, Lois Fuller, Murl Knight and Pearl Payne all of Abernathy, TX, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
