Jeanne Thomas Allen, died December 29, 2006, in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was born August 11, 1927 in Hale Center, TX to the late Hobby Thomas, Sr. and Walta Luttrell Thomas. A graduate of Hale Center High School and Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM she lived in Iowa and New Mexico before returning to Hale Center in 1965. She was librarian for the Hale Center Public Library for 27 years. Survivors include her four children: Rick Kuehnast of Natick, MA, Hobby Kuehnast and wife Linda of Amarillo, TX, Jane O'Brien and husband Steve of Houston, TX, Carol Ryland and husband Rich of Kingsport, TN, a brother Hobby Thomas, Jr. of Hale Center, TX,one sister Millie Armstrong of Lubbock, TX, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church of Hale Center with Rev. Carroll Green, pastor of the Hale Center First Baptist Church officiating. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Private burial was held in the Hale Center Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Hale Center Public Library Building Fund, P.O. Box 214, Hale Center, Texas 79041.
