Obituary of W. Flinn

Services for W. R. "Randell" Flinn, 82, of Lubbock, TX and formerly of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 22, 2010, in the Primitive Baptist Church, Lubbock, TX with Gary Flinn and Elder Kenny Venable officiating. Burial followed in the Idalou Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Flinn died Friday, September 17, 2010, in Lubbock, TX. He was born March 2, 1928 in Lubbock County, TX to G. G. and Effie (Willeford) Flinn. He married Katye Faye Sawyer on February 12, 1965 in Odessa, TX, and she preceded him in death January 23, 1993. He was a graduated from New Deal High School in 1945 and served in the United States Army in the Corps of Engineers. He was discharges from the Army to return to the family farm in Abernathy which he ran until the early 1990's. He then did custom farming, specializing in CRP. He was on the Board of Consumers Fuel Assn and was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Mary Freeman, Ila Mae Jones and Vee Melvina Flinn and 3 brothers, Dewey, Eugene and Garland. He is survived by 2 sisters, Wilda Myers of Lubbock, TX and Donnell King and her husband James of Atlanta, TX, several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be sent to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P. O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174 or to the Alzheimers Research. Abell Funeral Home
