Services for Velva Frances Brewer Eason, 89, of Hale Center, TX, were held at 11:00 am Monday, June 3, 2002, in the First United Methodist Church, Hale Center, with Rev. Elton Wyatt and Rev. Ken Rowland officiating. Burial followed in the Plainview Memorial Park, Plainview, TX, under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Eason died Sunday morning, June 2, 2002, at her home. She was born on October 1, 1912 in Lytton Springs, TX. She moved to Southwest of Hale Center in 1927 with her parents John and Dora (Harris) Brewer. She graduated from Hale Center High School in 1930 and attended Texas Tech University one semester before returning home to care for her father and moved back to Lytton Springs with her father and mother. She lived in Lytton Springs until December 13, 1933, when she married Jack Eason and they came to live on the farm in Hale Center. He preceded her in death in September of 1986. She was a homemaker and a mother. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lemond Chapter #38. She was preceded in death by her two brothers and a sister. Survivors; daughter, Joyce Smith and her husband C. P. of Hale Center, TX, 2 grandchildren, Bill Smith and his wife Dana of Fredricksburg, TX, Linda Blount and her husband Tracy of Anton, TX. 4 great grandchildren, Brittany Smith, Colter Blount, Clayton Blount and Stephanie Turner. 5 nephews, one who came to live with them in 1942, L. O. Brewer and his wife Lenore of Seminole, TX, and 1 niece. Nell Edwards, her caregiver for 6 years, is also to be remembered. To view other online obituaries log onto Abell Funeral Home
