Services for Donald Earl Williamson, 83, longtime resident of Abernathy, TX will be held at 10:00 am Friday, January 6, 2023, in the First Baptist Church, Abernathy with Rev. Brian Townsend officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. The family will gather to receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm, Thursday, January 5th, at Abell Funeral Home. Mr. Williamson died Tuesday, January 3, 2023, in Lubbock, TX. He was born August 29, 1939 in Atkins, AR. to A. D. and Hattie Mae (Tilley) Williamson. He attended school at New Deal, TX graduating in 1957. He married Carol Walters, January 24, 1958 in Lubbock. He was a farmer for over 40 years in Lubbock and Hale county. Donald enjoyed playing golf with his wife Carol. His greatest passion was his family and he was especially crazy about his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donald was a follower of Jesus and had a quick witted humor. Donald was preceded by his parents A. D. and Hattie Mae Williamson, Son-in-law, Brian Manuel and granddaughter, Suzan Manuel. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol Williamson of Abernathy, a daughter, Susan Manuel Smith and husband David of Ada, Ok and 2 sons, Donald ( Donnie) Earl Williamson, Jr and wife Buzz of Lubbock, and Matt Williamson and wife Holly of Abernathy. He was Papa to 4 grandsons, Arron Manuel and wife Kate and their children Carter and Spencer and Steven Manuel and wife Taylor and their children Brylan, Eme and Rowan all of Ada, OK, and Jacob and Caleb Williamson of Abernathy, and brothers, Ronald and Arvie Williamson and their families all of Lubbock. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society American Cancer Society P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
