Services for Naomi Robertson, 95, of Cotton Center, TX will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 11:00AM in the First Baptist Church of Cotton Center with Brother Claud Tugwell, Jr. officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00pm in Resthaven Cemetery. The family will gather to receive friends on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 6:00pm until 7:00pm at Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Mrs. Robertson died Friday, December 3, 2021 in Lubbock, TX.
She was born on August 23, 1926 in Lorenzo, TX to Elias Leonard and Irene (Martin) Hughes. Mrs. Robertson graduated from Lorenzo High School and attended Texas Tech while working as a Medical Technologist at Lubbock Memorial Hospital . Mrs. Robertson lived in Idalou, TX for 8 years where she met the love of her life, Paul Robertson. They were married on October 19, 1946 in Idalou. The Robertson's moved to Cotton Center in 1956, making it their home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she held many positions and helped decorate for many of the events her daughters were involved in. Mrs. Robertson served on the Women's Missionary Union for many years. She was also active in her daughters church and school activities. Mrs. Robertson was loving and caring, and adored her grandchildren to which she was affectionately known as grandmother, or mimi to the little ones. She also loved to cook and supported her husband, Paul, in all he did.
Mrs. Robertson is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Robertson on July 7, 2013, a brother Oscar Hughes, and a sister Frances Hopper and a precious pet companion, Tobasco, a coton de tulear breed, who died in 2014.
She is survived by 2 daughters Martha Shackelford and husband, Larry, of Lubbock and Patti Mattison and husband, Thomas, of Austin, TX, 3 grandchildren Amy Wiggins of Abilene, TX, Jason Shackelford and wife, Elisha, of New Deal, TX, and Tobin Davis and wife, Amy, of Dripping Springs, TX, 8 great grandchildren Bailey Shackelford of New Deal, Kyle Shackelford of New Deal, Wyatt, Henry, Ryker, and Daisy Wiggins, all of Abilene, Turner and Emory Davis of Dripping Springs, 2 sisters Velma Boyd and husband, Olin, of San Angelo, TX and Nancy Lambert and husband, Gerald, of Tahoe, CA.
The family suggests memorial donations be sent to Ronald McDonald House in Fort Worth, 1001 Eighth Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76104.
