Obituary of D'Aun Shipman

Services for D'Aun Shipman, 87, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at the Abernathy Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Viewing will be held Monday, November 15, 2021. Mrs. Shipman died at her home in Abernathy, Saturday morning, November 13, 2021. She was born October 9, 1934 in New Deal, TX to Raymond and Ione (Scott) McNeely. She graduated from Frenship High School in 1953 and married Billy Floyd Shipman on June 12, 1953 in Abernathy. She was raised in Abernathy and New Deal area and was a member of the Abernathy Church of Christ. She loved to quilt and cook. She loved the Lady Raiders and watching her grandchildren playing sports. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a former member of the Abernathy Bowling League and worked in the office of Shipman Real Estate and Insurance with her husband, Billy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Shipman, June 29, 2017 and a grandson, Micaiah Tardy , September 8, 2012. She is survived by 4 children, Jan Myatt and husband Tommy, Nan Riley and husband Steve all of Abernathy, Roddy Shipman and wife Jo Ann of Guthrie, TX and Kathy Lunday and husband Eric of Rowlett, TX, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 sister-in-law, Donna Blalock and a brother-in-law, Marion Shipman and wife Peggy. The family would like to express their appreciation to Calvert Home Health, Traditions Hospice and Arnie Faye (Sanders) Muhammad, Prissy Gallion, Linda Reyna, Kayla Krahmer, Becky Davis, Lorin Duff, Jan Ragland for the loving care each gave to their Mother, D'Aun. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Abernathy Cemetery, P. O. Drawer 150, Abernathy, TX 79311 or to a favorite charity.
