Obituary of Beth Merritt

Graveside services for Beth Merritt, 67 of Lamesa, Tx, and formerly of Petersburg, Tx, will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 23, 2021, in the Petersburg Cemetery. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, Tx. Mrs. Merritt died Wednesday October 20, 2021 in Lamesa, Tx. Beth was born November 18, 1953 in Lubbock, Tx to Floyd E. Bankston and Mary Bell (Brewer) Bankston. She was raised in Lubbock and Petersburg, Tx, graduating from Petersburg High School. Beth was an avid fan and collector of anything Elvis Presley related. She was very fond of her dog Missy and cat Penelope. Beth loved roosters from a young age, decorating her house with anything rooster related. She enjoyed getting to be around family, and loved her son and grandkids dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, and 3 brothers, Ronny J. Bankston, Randy D. Bankston and William F. Bankston. Beth is survived by a son Thomas Roberds of Brownfield, TX, grandchildren Jonathan, Alyssa, Hannah, and T.J. Roberds, a great grandson Jeremiah Roberds, brothers Ikey L. Holcomb, Charles R. Bankston, Glenn D. Bankston and Clayton Bankston, and sisters Mary H. Mensch, Carolyn J. Thompson, Linda F. Grady, Judy C. Brooks, Gladys J. Johnson, Karen L. Bankston.
