Marie was a loving grandmother to me, though we are not related by blood. My mom worked with Gid and when her parents passed at an early age, both Gid and Marie were there for her. Gid walked her down the aisle when my parents got married, so they have always held a special place in my heart. In fact, when I was little I forgot once that she wasn’t my grandmother! Marie was that kind of person—with a heart that grew to encompass all around her. That’s not to say she didn’t have a wicked sense of humor, though! I will always remember that she had a joke or two to share, a few stories, and always a listening ear and some advice when needed. I am so incredibly grateful to have had her in my life and thankful she is no longer in pain. I am celebrating the force of nature, fierce and loving Marie!
