Services for Mary Littlejohn, 90, of Hale Center, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Monday, May 17, 2021, at Abell Funeral Home, Abernathy. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home from 3:00 pm until 4:30 pm, Sunday, May 16, 2021. Mrs. Littlejohn died Friday, May 14, 2021, in Lubbock, TX. She was born August 29, 1930 in Cumby, TX to Edward Eugene and Nora Bessie (Freeman) Beggs. She was raised in Brownfield, TX until marrying W. Dean Littlejohn, February 13, 1947, in Brownfield. They moved to Hale Center from Lubbock in 1961. She worked at White's Auto for 10 years followed by 20 years at Hi-Plains Hospital, as the ward clerk, retiring when the hospital closed. She then worked at the Hale Center Library until age 85. She loved plants and was a crafty person and enjoyed crocheting as well. She was an avid reader and adapted to technology with ease. She kept her mind sharp by working daily crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Dean Littlejohn, January 4, 2003. She is survived by a son, Eddie Littlejohn and wife Linda of Lubbock, TX, daughter, Sherry Belk and husband Jim of Eldorado, TX, 5 grandchildren, Lisa, Shelley, Christina, Jamey and Mandy, 5 great grandchildren, Justin, Nathan, Brayden, Jace and Bryce, 2 sisters, Oma Lou Brannon and husband Bill of Homosassa, FL and Nancy Pierson of Lindsay, OK and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Hale Center Meals on Wheels or to the Hale Center Public Library, Box 214, Hale Center, TX 79041.
