Obituary of Floreine Patterson

Memorial service for Vallis Floreine Patterson who turned 101 in Sept 2019 was held in Wylie, Texas at 7:00 a.m. on April 5, 2020, in the home of Phil and Lajuana Grindstaff. The Reverend Chris Galloway from Richardson Church of the Nazarene officiated. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday April 8, 2020 at the Abernathy Cemetery with Rev. Louis Schaap and Rev. Pedro Cruz officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, Tx. Floreine Patterson died April 5, 2020 in Wylie, Tx. She was born to L. M. Hall and Ada Jane (Wells) Hall in Jester, Ok, September 29, 1918. She moved from Oklahoma with her family to West Texas, by horse drawn buggy, where she attended Abernathy schools. Floreine married R. C. Patterson, Jr., November 24, 1936 in Portales, NM. They helped build the current church building and were members many years at the Abernathy First Church of the Nazarene. Floreine was preceded in death by R. C. Patterson, Jr., her husband of 71 years in February of 2008 and by their firstborn daughter, Vallis Colene Sanders of Bonner Springs, Ks in October 2019. She is survived by her son, Allen Ladell Patterson and wife Bettie of Okeechobee, Fl; two daughters, Lajuana Gwendolyn Grindstaff and husband Phillip of Wylie, Tx; Barbara Jane Brown and husband Jerry of Tallahassee, Fl, as well as a host of many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
