THE PROCESSION WILL BE LEAVING ABELL FUNERAL HOME AT 11:00 AM SATURDAY, MARCH 21ST. Viewing for LaNell (Bishop) Stone, 82 of Abernathy, TX will be held from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, March 20, 2020, at Abell Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held at Resthaven Cemetery, Lubbock, TX, under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mrs. Stone died Tuesday, March 17, 2020, in Plainview, TX. She was born on November 21, 1937 to F.C. & Lavail (Hunt) Bishop. LaNell graduated from Abernathy High School and married Delton Stone on June 23, 1956 in County Line, TX. They lived in many area towns including Lubbock, Heckville and County Line before returning to Abernathy. Though she worked for Plains Cotton Cooperative Association and owned a flower shop in Wolfforth, TX from 1977-1980, her primary joy was taking care of those she loved. Upon returning to Abernathy, the Stone's owned and operated Stoney Acres RV Park for 19 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a faithful member of the Abernathy First United Methodist Church. LaNell was preceded in death by her husband, Delton Stone, on February 25, 2016. She is survived by her son, Gary Stone and wife Stacy, and daughter Sherri Henley, all of Abernathy, 5 grandchildren Joshua Stone, Jeremy Stone, Jessica Wilbanks and husband Tyler, Jarrett Stone, and Thomas Henley and wife Macauley, and 7 great-grandchildren Kealee, Matthew, Markus, Mason, Bransyn, Lorelei, and Levi. The family suggests memorial donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, 3411 73rd Street, Lubbock, TX 79423 or MD Anderson Cancer Center, 1155 Pressler Street, Houston, TX 77030.
