Services for Albert R. Ambrose, 83, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 4, 2007, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Coley Ambrose and Rev. Barry Tilley officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Ambrose died Sunday, April 1, 2007, in Lubbock, TX. He was born September 7, 1923 in Belle Vernon, Penn. to Lawrence and Mary (Naccarto) Ambrose. He joined the United States 7th Air Force, serving during WWII in Hicomb Field, Hawaii, after being discharged he moved to Lubbock in 1963. He married Teresa Kay Teeter on February 14, 1979 in Lubbock, TX and then moved to Abernathy. He was employed at Continental Airlines for 31 years, and then became employed with the City Of Lubbock for the next 18 years, and was currently working for the Abernathy ISD. He was very involved in Scouting, volunteering as a leader, was a member of the VFW, and the Cornerstone Family Church in Lubbock, TX, where he served as Deacon and Usher. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, and a son; Rob Ambrose in 2005. He is survived by his wife Theresa of Abernathy, TX, a son, Coley and his wife Rachel of Lubbock, TX, a daughter, Randy Schlueter and her husband Stan of Austin, TX, a daughter-in-law, Margie Ambrose of Denison, TX, a brother, Raymond and 2 sisters, Virginia Comadena and Florence Comadena all of Belle Vernon, Penn., 4 grandchildren, Steven, Cyndi, Kristen and Mark and 6 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Cornerstone Family Church, Building Fund, P. O. Box 98525 Lubbock, TX 79499 Abell Funeral Home
