The family of Kelly Gene Smalley, 57 of Petersburg, TX will gather to receive friends and family Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm. at Abell Funeral Home, Abernathy, TX. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mr. Smalley died Tuesday, January 9, 2024 in Lubbock, TX. Kelly was born November 25, 1966 in Ft. Worth, TX to Gerald and Dorothy (Pierce) Smalley. He was raised in the Floydada and Petersburg areas and graduated from Petersburg High School in 1985. Kelly married Ronna Karol Tyson, August 11, 1990 in New Deal, TX. He farmed, ranched, and owned Bar-Wise Grain Elevator and enjoyed going to stock shows. He was the best drinking buddy around and loved riding the tractor with his granddaughter, Kyann Lane. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Smalley, December 5, 2019, his parents, Gerald and Dorothy Smalley, a brother, Curtis Smalley and father-in-law, Ronald Tyson , September 23, 2006. He is survived by his wife Ronna Smalley of Petersburg, TX, 3 daughters, Katherine Smalley, Victoria Smalley and Charlotte Smalley all of Petersburg, TX, a granddaughter, Kyann Lane of Petersburg, mother-in-law, Karol Tyson of Shallowater, TX, sister, Penny Smalley of Abernathy and sister-in-law, Marla Smalley of Saledo, TX. The Smalley family suggest memorials be sent to a favorite charity.
