Obituary of Cayce Short

Services for Cayce B. Short, 102, of Hale Center, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 22, 2015, in the Family Center at Abell Funeral Home, Hale Center. Burial will follow in the Plainview Memorial Park, Plainview, TX, under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Hale Center. Mr. Short died Thursday, December 17, 2015, in Lubbock, TX. He was born March 17, 1913 in Lingleville, TX to Silas Edward and Golda (Robinson) Short. He served in the United States Army during WWII, from 1941 until 1945. He married Veda Richardson on December 16, 1945 in Plainview. She preceded him in death in 1969. He lived in Hale Center from 1916 until 1952, and returned in 1994. He was a Church of Christ and an accomplished pianist. Mr. Short was preceded in death by his parents, S.E. and Golda Short, 7 sisters and 6 brothers. He is survived by a daughter, Joyce Virlee Montague and husband David, 6 grandchildren, Sandra Cay Howard and husband Arnold, Stefanie Ann Goodwin and husband Chris, James Lee Sharp and wife Renessa, Keith Montague and wife Lois and Noelle Ebner. He is survived by great grandchildren, Patrick & Leni, Skyuler, Morgan, Griffin, Angela and Brody, Hayden, Reese and Cameron and 2 great great grandchildren, Conner & Donovan.
