Obituary of Veda Alston

Services for Veda Alston, 92, of Plainview, TX, will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, May 4, 2015, in the Family Center at Abell Funeral Home, Hale Center, TX with Rev. Brad Huckabee, grandson of Mrs. Alston officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, Plainview, TX, under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. Mrs. Alston died Thursday, April 30, 2015, in El Paso, TX. She was born April 7, 1923 to Otis Elmo and Naomi Annie (Wilbanks) McMillan, in O'Donnell, TX. She moved to Edmonson, TX from Lorenzo, TX in 1950 and on to Plainview in 1962, where she was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Plainiview Hospital for many years. She was the 4th Floor Manager. She married Roy Alston, March 10, 1975 in Amarillo, TX and he preceded her in death. She is preceded in death by a son, Joe Dean Huckabee, February 15, 2014 and 2 brothers, O. E. McMillan, Jr on June 2, 2001, and Archie Vincent McMillan on June 2, 1922. She is survived by a son Tobey Max Huckabee and wife Rose of Morrow, AR, 2 brothers, Thomas McMillan and wife Myrna of Possum Kingdom, TX and Hershal McMillan and wife Pat of Lubbock, TX, a sister, Nell Jordan of Carlsbad, NM, a sister-in-law, Modean McMillan, wife of O.E., of Enid, OK, 5 grandchildren, Joe Bradley Huckabee and wife Brenda, Tamberlyn Ann Perkins, Kevin Douglas Huckabee and wife Tammy, Darlene Smith and husband Partick and Justin Wayne Huckabee and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
