Services for Dale T. Milner, 93, of Petersburg, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Friday, March 20, 2015, in the Petersburg First United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Hensley and Rev. Danny Milner officiating. Burial will follow in the Strip-Pearce Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Mr. Milner died Monday, March 16, 2015, in Lubbock, TX.
He was born April 21, 1921 to Herbert Austin and Isabelle (Salsbury) Milner. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1938. He enlisted in the US Navy and served during WWII and was discharged as Chief Petty Officer. Following his discharge from the Navy, he worked at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock as a sheet metal mechanic until 1960, when began farming full time. He married Macie Annette McCullough on December 30, 1956 in Lubbock, TX. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Petersburg and served on the Lions Club for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Annette Milner on November 17, 2006, a nephew Dale A. Milner and 2 brothers, Melvin and Glen Milner.
He is survived by a son, Danny Milner and wife Kathy of Petersburg, TX, a daughter, Danette Johnston and husband Sid of North Richland Hills, TX, 4 grandchildren, Kathryn Milner Durham and husband Weston of Lubbock, TX, Cynthia Milner of Canyon, TX, Tiffany Johnston of Boston, MA and Jennifer Johnston of Denton, TX, 2 great grandsons, Wyatt Thomas and Ben Luke Durham, a brother-in-law, Lester McCullough and wife Sarah of Auburn, KS, one niece, Kimberly Gilbert of Topeka, KS and her daughter, Macie Annette.
