Rosary for Antonio "Tony" Garcia, 92, Longtime Hale Center resident, will be recited at 7:00 Sunday, October 27, 2013, in St. Theresa's Catholic Church with Rev. John Smith, pastor, officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Monday, October 28, 2013 in the same church church with the same officiant. Burial will follow in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. Mr. Garcia died Thursday, October 24, 2013, in Olton, TX. He was born July 9, 1921 in Crosbyton, TX to Rudolfo and Feliciana (Luna) Garcia. He married Alice Aragon on June 23, 1940 and she preceded him in death in 1988. He served in the United States Army during WWII, stationed in Manila, Phillipines. After his discharge, he returned to Hale Center, where he owned and operated Tony's Garage until 2011. He was a member of the VFW, and St. Theresa"s Catholic Church, and was a member of the St. Theresa"s Baseball team. He was an avid pool player, and loved to play with the "Grumpy Old Men". His passion was dancing, last dancing at age 91 in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by 4 children, Tony Garcia, Jr., Isabel Castillo, Balbina Hernandez and Ophelia Castillo. He is survived by 6 children, Robert Garcia of Houston, TX, Daniel Garcia of Mercedes, TX, George Garcia of Colorado Springs, CO, Sabina Ramos, Benny Garcia and Greg Garcia all of Amarillo, TX, a brother, Martin Garcia of Plainview, TX, 4 sisters, Ruby Castillo of Lubbock, TX Josie Ridenour of Wabash, IN, Gloria Soto of Phoenix, AZ and Julia Rocha of Salt Lake City, UT, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
