Services for Betty Jo Pearce, 83, longtime resisdent of Abernthy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 27, 2013, in the Abernathy Church of Christ, with David Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mrs. Pearce died at her home, Saturday, August 24, 2013. She was born August 18, 1930 in Abernathy, to Carroll and Katie (Heath) Owen. She married William Hayden Pearce on December 30, 1976 in Abernathy. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1991. She graduated from Abernathy High School in 1947 and was a longtime Church of Christ. She lived in Snyder, TX from 1957 until moving back to Abernathy in 1976. She had worked as a beautician and was member of the Abernathy Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Bergyn Johnson and a sister Floyce Gould. She is survived by 3 daughters, Betty Lee Brown and husband Charlie of Lubbock, TX, Terry Jo Butler and husband Terry of Abilene, TX and Debbie Hanks and husband Scott of Sugar Land, TX, one step-daughter, Elizabeth Jenkins of Abernathy, 5 sisters, Willene Dunn and husband Willie Vester of Abernathy, Loyce Lenning of Lubbock, TX, Bobby Cloud of Abernathy, TX, Diann Smith and husband Bill of Idalou, TX and Paula Clark and husband Wayne of Lubbock, TX, 9 grandchildreen, Wendy, Eric, Lecile, Zachary, Sally, Janet, Nathan, Rick and Jamie, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to the Children's Home of Lubbock, P. O. Box 2824, Lubbock, TX 79408
