Obituary of Minnie Hill

Services for Minnie (Chastain) Hill, 88, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Friday, July 27, 2012, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Hill died Monday, July 23, 2012, in Lubbock, TX. She was born August 31, 1923 in Fannin County, TX to Lloyd Esborn and Willie Myrtle (Asburn) Chastain. She married Finus Marion Hill on July 23, 1938 in Lubbock, TX, he preceded her in death September 25, 1993. She was a longtime resident of the Abernathy area. She was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church, the Rebekah Lodges in Abernathy and Andrews, TX where she was a 54 year Life Member. She and her husband, Finus, were members of the Abernathy Riding Club and the Lubbock Good Sam Paririe Dog RV Club. She loved to read, and when her eyes failed her she listened to books on tape all day. She always had a book in her purse. She enjoyed doing all types of crafts, sewing was a favorite. She made sure to have a quilt for each of her great grandchildren to receive when they graduate from high school, along with a Bible, and they are put away with instructions of her wishes. She is survived by 3 children, Norval Hill of Hale Center, TX, Marie Fowler of Abernathy, TX and Pat Richards of Andrews, TX, a brother, Lloyd Chastain, Jr of Colorado, 7 grandchildren, Becky Anderson, Robbie Fowler, Melissa Hill, Anita Lightfoot, Debbie Mason, Renee Kemp & Kathy Vuittonet, 13 great grandchildren, Spring McDonnell, Farrah Criner, Kacie Birkes, Summer Reed, Brandi Murphy, Bailey Kemp, Cheyenna Kemp, Brittney Fowler, Jonathon Vuittonet, Brooklynn Mason, Madisson Kemp, Matthew Mason and Emily Mason, 7 great great grandchildren, Chloe Criner, Cutter Criner, Cayden Birkes, Landen Birkes, Prestyn & Parkyr Reed and Keely McDonnell.
