Obituary of Rick West

Services for Rickey Lee "Rick" West, 60, of Hale Center, TX, were held 11:00 am Monday, June 20, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Hale Center, TX with Rev. Jimmy Cameron officiating and Dr. Carrol Green assisting. Masonic graveside services followed in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. Mr. West died Saturday, June 18, 2011, in Lubbock, TX. He was born August 17, 1950 in Littlefield, TX and graduated from Hale Center High School in 1968. He married Claudia Garretson on December 29, 1970 in Hale Center. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1977 and was employed with Garretson Farm Supply from 1971-2002; Texas Tech Grounds Maintenance Vector Control from 2004-2006 and City of Lubbock Health Dept Vector Control Supervisor from 2006-2011. He was a member of Masonic Lemond Lodge #832 in Hale Center, 32nd Degree Mason of Scottish Rite in Lubbock, TX, Red Cross Constantine and District Deputy Grand Master of Grand Lodge of Texas. He is survived by his wife, Claudia West of Hale Center TX, 2 sons, Randall West and Andrew West, both of Lubbock; TX, Mother and Step-Father, Laverne & Rodney Balko of Las Cruces NM; 1 brother, Danny West of Fieldton, TX. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Southwest Cancer Center, American Cancer Society and Vista Care Hospice in Lubbock. Abell Funeral Home
