Services for Anita Adell Walls, 85, of Hale Center, TX, were held at 10:00 am Monday, December 15, 2008, in the Hale Center First Baptist Church with Rev. Carrol Green, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, TX. Mrs. Walls died Friday, December 12, 2008, in Plainview, TX. She was born October 27, 1923 in Silverton, TX. She married Willard Odell Walls on October 26, 1941 in Silverton, TX. They raised their children in Fredreick, OK and moved to Hale Center in 1974. She was a member of the Hale Center Senior Citizens, and attended the State Spelling Bee for the Senior Citizens. She involved herself in Senior Citizens, enjoying playing games, eating and traveling with them. She was a member of the Hale Center First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was involved in the Womens Missionary Union (WMU) and MDOT. She traveled to Israel with the church group and attended retreats and camps. She became an avid football fan at the insistance of a grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969, a son-in-law, John David Goodner, Sr. in 2005 and a grandson, John David Goodner, Jr, in 1980. She is survived by a daughter, Karen Goodner of Hewitt, TX, 3 sons, Jerry Odell Walls and his wife Rebecca of Hereford, TX, Larry Wayne Walls and his wife Debbie of Abilene, TX, and Gary Alan Walls and his wife Leslie of Buchanan Dam, TX, a sister, Bettye Long of Hale Center, TX, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sent to MDOT at The First Baptist Church, 305 W. 6th Street, Hale Center, TX, 789041 or to the Hale Center Senior Citizens, 416 W. 2nd Street, Hale Center, TX 79041.
