Services for Barbara Teakell, 69, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 6, 2004, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowrie, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Teakell died Monday, January 3, 2005, at her home in Abernathy, TX. She was born August 23, 1935 in Town Creek, Alabama to George Washington Patterson and Lola Adrienne (Green) Patterson. She married Mac Teakell in Vernon, TX, February 7, 1953. They moved their family to the Abernathy area in 1965 from Lubbock, TX. She had been a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was an active member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Esther Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her brothers, David Patterson, Benny Patterson, George Patterson, JR., Ausie Patterson and Billy Patterson and a sister Lillie Mae Scott. She is survived by her husband, Mac Teakell of Abernathy, TX, a son, Bill Teakell and his wife Vicki of Abernathy, TX, 2 daughters, Teresa Fisher and her husband Bill of Wolfforth, TX, Debra Crowder and her husband Mike of Ransom Canyon, TX, 2 brothers, James and Charlie Patterson both of Patterson, CA, and 6 grandchildren, Lara & Dianna Crowder, Seth Smith, Amber Noland, Michael Christian and Emma Teakell. The family suggests memorials be sent to Hospice of Lubbock, P. O. Bxo 16800, Lubbock, TX 79408 or to the First Baptist Church, 411 - 7th Street, Abernathy, TX, 79311. Abell Funeral Home
