Graveside services for Bertha Mary Taylor, 85, of Hale Center, Tx., were held at 10:00 am Friday, January 11, 2002, in the Center Plains Cemetery, Cotton Center, Tx., with Rev. Gene Meacham officiating. Services were under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, Tx. Mrs. Taylor died Monday, January 7, 2002, in Plainview, Tx. She was born on August 14, 1916 in St. Louis, Missouri. She served in the United States Army as a War Nurse during WWII. She was a longtime volunteer, helping where she was needed. She was preceded in death by a grandson, John Leander Mann in 1970 and a great grandson, Tyler Moyer in October of 1998. She was also preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister. Survivors; 3 daughters, Lucy Mary Mann of Hale Center, Tx, Bertha Louise Vargas of San Antonio, Tx, and Josephine Elizabeth Taylor of Houston, Tx. 1 son, Joseph David Taylor of Nevada. 8 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, 10 great grandsons and 7 great granddaughters.
