Services for Katharyn Davis Foraker Smith, 91, of Hale Center, TX were held 3:00 pm Friday, June 25, 2010 in the Hale Center Church of Christ with Silas Short officiating. Burial followed in the Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. Mrs. Smith died on June 22, 2010 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born January 23, 1919 in Megargel, Texas. She graduated from Lockney High School and married Wilbur Foraker on October 6, 1945 in Clovis, NM. After his death on February 12, 1988; she married Jack Smith on September 8, 1990 in Hale Center, Texas. She moved to Hale Center in 1947 from Plainview, TX. She worked as a buyer for Meinecke's, and a saleslady for Moon's Drug Store and later retired from J.C. Penney's in Plainview, TX. She is survived by her husband, Jack Smith of Hale Center; 3 children, Jeannie Karen Jones of Lubbock; Lonnie Foraker of Shallowater and Ronnie Foraker of Haslet, TX; 3 stepchildren, Jackie Jones of Corpus Christi, Julia Chambliss and Wilford Smith, both of Plainview; 3 brothers, Thurman Davis of Thonotosassa, FL, Loy Davis of Clarendon, TX and Jerry Davis of Lockney, TX; 13 Grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren She is preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Davis, Kenton Davis and a step daughter, Myra Mickey. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Children's Home of Lubbock, P.O.
