Services for Freddie John Shaw were held at 2:00 pm Sunday , June 13, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Abernathy with Mike O'Donnell officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Mr. Shaw was born on July 3, 1948 in Lubbock County, TX and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1966, later attending Texas Tech University. He married Mary Bonds on November 17, 1967 in Lubbock, TX and they moved to Abernathy in 1974 where he farmed. He enjoyed helping the youth and was active in 4-H and FFA stock shows. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Abernathy.
He is survived by his wife Mary; a son, John Bryan Shaw of Plainview, TX; 2 daughters, Tracy and her husband Calvin Fox of Montgomery, TX and Rebecca and her husband Dennis Haney of Lubbock, TX; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandson and a great granddaughter on the way; a sister, Betty Steinheimer and friend, James Parker of Groesbeck, TX ; and a niece, Cindy Baldwin.
