Obituary of Nadine Rogers

Nadine Boyd Rogers began her life on October 25, 1928 in Tahoka, TX, being born to L. B. and Kate Grace (Mauldin) Boyd, in Texas. She was a graduate of Roby High School, Roby, TX, marrying Bob Rogers, on February 11, 1950 in Lubbock, TX. To this union was born a son and three daughters. The Rogers family moved to the Abernathy area in 1955 and began farming. They were charter members of the Northside Baptist Church, where Nadine joyfully served as pianist, organist and Sunday School Teacher. Nadine's love of others led her to become involved in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
Tuesday morning, July 24, 2007, Nadine Boyd Rogers, at the age of 78, went to be with her Lord to join her parents, husband, 3 brothers and friends.
She is survived by her 4 children, Bobby Dean Rogers, Pamela Chapman, Nelda Bartley and her husband Tim, all of Abernathy and Gerry Ingram and her husband, Ron, of Vega, TX, She is also survived by her brothers and their wives, A.P. & Margie Boyd of College Station, TX, Horace and Lois Boyd of Irving, TX, Calvin and Dixie Boyd and Arthur Ray and Schylon Boyd all of Sweetwater, TX and Richard and Tanya Boyd of Abilene, TX, 2 sisters-in-law, Julie Boyd of Abilene, TX and Vonnell Boyd of Sweetwater, TX, 12 grandchildren, (each thinking they were "her favorite"), and 10 great grandchildren.
Services honoring the 78 year life of Nadine were held Saturday, July 28, 2007, at 1:00 pm, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church. Rev. Joel Perez, her current pastor officiated, while Rev. Billy Parmer, Rev. Ken Horn and Rev. Hollis Shewmake, former pastors, also took part in this memorial time. She was laid to rest in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX.
